How to convert video to MP3 from a local file

Use this video to MP3 converter for a short interview, lecture excerpt, or screen recording you have permission to use. MP4 to MP3 keeps the sound and leaves out the picture. A long video may exceed the 100 MB limit, or 25 MB on touch devices; export a shorter section in your video editor first.

Video in
Choose a saved MP4 with a readable audio track, or try the included sample. MOV, WebM, and MKV can also be selected; compatibility depends on their audio encoding.
Audio out
MP3 by default, with a choice of bitrate. You can select WAV instead when an editor needs uncompressed audio.
Audio tracks
The first track only. Other language tracks cannot be selected, and the tool does not trim or download online videos.

The picture is removed and the first audio track is converted. This MP3 is larger than the small, already compressed MP4 sample. These sizes describe this sample only. Duration, source audio, format, and settings change your result; a smaller file is not a measure of better sound.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Video to MP3 questions

Can I convert MP4 to MP3 here?

Yes, when the MP4 contains a readable audio track. Try the included MP4 sample. An MP4 extension alone does not guarantee compatibility; protected, unusual, or damaged audio may not work.

Can I paste a YouTube or social media link?

No. This video to MP3 tool reads a file already saved on your device. It does not download videos from links. Choose a local video you are allowed to process.

Why is the extracted MP3 silent or in the wrong language?

Play the original first. A video with no audio track cannot produce sound. For multiple-language videos, this tool uses the first audio track; export the track you need from a video editor before converting.

Can I convert a large video or just one section?

Each file is limited to 100 MB, or 25 MB on touch devices. This tool converts the whole first audio track and has no trimming control. Export a smaller clip in a video editor, then choose that file here.

Can I convert several files at once?

Add up to 10 files. They are processed one after another, and you can download each finished result or save the batch in one ZIP. Each file can be up to 100 MB, or 25 MB on touch devices. Use a computer for larger recordings.

Where is my download, and what happens to the original?

Choose Download beside a finished file. Look in your browser’s Downloads or the Files app on your phone; some browsers offer a sharing menu. The original is unchanged. Results are kept only in this tab, so download them before refreshing or leaving.
