How to convert audio to WAV for your project

This audio to WAV converter is useful when an editor or another tool asks for uncompressed PCM audio. Choose a common MP3, M4A, FLAC, or OGG recording. Keep the original sample rate unless your project specifies another one; changing the format does not repair a noisy or compressed source.

WAV output
16-bit PCM. There is no MP3 bitrate to select for uncompressed WAV.
Sample rate
Keep original, or choose 16, 22.05, 44.1, or 48 kHz. Follow your target app’s requirements.
Channels
Keep the source layout, or choose mono or stereo. A mono source does not gain spatial detail by becoming stereo.
01

Choose an audio file, or try the MP3 sample to see compressed audio become a WAV.

02

Keep the sample rate unchanged, or match your project. Select mono or stereo only when required.

03

Convert audio to WAV, listen to the result, and save the separate download.

This short, synthetic recording says: “The meeting starts at nine. Please bring your notes.” The result below was made with this tool. Compare the sound and size, or try the sample above with your own settings.

Keep original sample rate and channels were selected. The uncompressed WAV is larger, with no recovery of detail lost in the MP3. These sizes describe this sample only. Duration, source audio, format, and settings change your result; a smaller file is not a measure of better sound.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Audio to WAV questions

Does audio to WAV conversion improve sound quality?

No. WAV avoids another round of lossy compression, but it cannot restore detail removed from an MP3 or another compressed source. It cannot remove noise or repair a damaged recording.

Should I choose 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz?

Keep original when your project accepts the source rate. If a project specifies 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, select that rate. 44.1 kHz is common for music and 48 kHz for video work; increasing the rate alone adds no missing sound detail.

Can I export 24-bit or 32-bit float WAV?

This converter exports 16-bit PCM WAV only. If your editing or analysis project requires 24-bit or 32-bit float, use an audio editor with that output option and check the exported file’s properties.

Can I convert several files at once?

Add up to 10 files. They are processed one after another, and you can download each finished result or save the batch in one ZIP. Each file can be up to 100 MB, or 25 MB on touch devices. Use a computer for larger recordings.

Where is my download, and what happens to the original?

Choose Download beside a finished file. Look in your browser’s Downloads or the Files app on your phone; some browsers offer a sharing menu. The original is unchanged. Results are kept only in this tab, so download them before refreshing or leaving.
